Hi Guys Loaded the DStar Commander on RPi B and can't seem to configure the software so that the ircDDB Remote app will work... Is there a entry needed in the config "remote"? Thanks

You'll have to access the ircddbgateway config program either through VNC or by connecting a keyboard/mouse/monitor to the Pi. The last tab in the gateway config is "Remote". You have to enable the remote, designate a password, and a port number. Make sure to close down ircddbgateway while you're making the changes--otherwise they may not be saved. Once you've made those changes, reboot the Pi, and the remote app should be able to connect to the gateway using the credentials you set up.

Let me try again. I want to run the IrcDDB Remote app. After starting up the rpi 3b running DStar Commander, I close down the ircDDB Gateway window as well as the DstarRepeater window. Then open up the Gateway Config. When I select the Remote tab, enable the gateway, then try to enter my password and port number, it will not let me type in those boxes. What am I doing wrong? Thanks, K8OE

I've never seen or heard of this issue before, and I can't reproduce it.
My best guess is that it's a file permission problem in Linux resulting from a corrupted media...sometimes if a disk system is corrupted, Linux will lock the entire drive to read-only, but I would think you'd be having all kinds of other problems if that were the case. At any rate, it's clearly abnormal behavior.
Best recommendation I can make is do a low-level quick format on the SD card with SDFormatter and then re-flash/reconfigure the image. It generally proves simpler and less time consuming than jumping through hoops trying to recover an anomalous drive.

This may be related... A ham friend of mine recently had all kinds of problems getting his RPi 3B, DVAP, and DStar Commander working consistently. I'd helped him install and configure DStar Commander, it would work perfectly for a day or two, then everything would go haywire! I'd walk him through the installation again, then a couple of days later same problem. Repeat! He was so frustrated he was about ready to give up. At first I suspected he was inadvertently doing something to corrupt DStar Commander such as killing the RPi's power without first executing a proper software shutdown, but that turned out not to be the case. After eliminating everything we could think of, eventually he bought a brand new, high speed, high quality, name brand, micro-SD card and we started over. All problems instantly disappeared! Prior to that he was using an inexpensive but high speed SD card. Apparently the RPi is sensitive to and won't work well with certain SD cards. See elinux.org/RPi_SD_cards for more info.
