I began running the latest version yesterday with my new dvMega. It works great!
A question, though: the ircDDB status is "disconnected" despite the fact that I edited the file /etc/ircddbgateway to show the server as "rr.openquad.net" which is what the OpenQuad folks say to use. That choice is not available in the ircddb configuration file. It would seem wise to add it to comply with what the OpenQuad suggest.
In any case, I don't know why it's not working, and I don't know what file to edit to add "rr.openquad.net" in the setup file.
I fully realize the point that ircDDBGateway is primarily for Callsign Routing which I don't use for the obvious reasons. Still what I've done works on my older versions of the G4KLX software but not on this one.
Any ideas?

Jess;
To get ircddb server access to work, you also have to have the DExtra protocol enabled. To do this manually you can edit the /etc/ircddbgateway file, and change the following three settings to read:
ircddbEnabled=1 ircddbHostname=rr.openquad.net dextraEnabled=1
You will also have to enable port forwarding of ports 30001-30011 in your router, to forward traffic for those DExtra-specific ports to the computer running the gateway.
The ircddb servers are hard-coded in the gateway software, and rr.openquad.net was not present as an option in the 20140326 version of ircddbgateway used in the image. Perhaps at some later date I will find time to do the testing needed to rebuild the image with a newer and established stable version of the gateway that includes that as an option.

Hi Bob: Thanks for your prompt reply! I had Dextra enabled in /etc/ircddbgateway, but I haven't yet told the router to forward ports 30001-30011 to the IP address of the Pi2. It's still forwarding to the IP address of my old Pi B. I guess I can tell the router to force the Pi2 to use the same IP address as the older Pi B it's replacing. I merely have to remember how I told the router to do it last time... It's always something... Thanks again for your help! 73 Jess ND1L

Hello I am new to DStar Commander and giving it a try. A question please.
I also use CS routing with DTMF tones Hotspot to HOTSPOT only
I have followed the instructions in ur previous post and have edited the ircddbgateway.y file ( there are several). It is working but I am getting alot of the following messages. Are these normal or do I gave something not configured right? On the ircddb screen it is showing "ircDDB disconnected".
Thank you!!

The "Starting/Stopping the IRC Receiver thread" messages indicate that either the openquad server is down or ircddbHostname is not set to rr.openquad.net (the default setting) in the config file.
If you try editing the ircddb server using the G4KLX GUI, you will be forced to select something other than rr.openquad.net, because that option was not coded into this older version of ircddbgateway. If you find yourself in that situation, you should get out of the configuration GUI without saving. If you do inadvertently save it, then you will have to edit the file manually and change the setting, or alternatively reflash the SD card and start over.
You said you edited ircddbgateway.y -- I have no idea what's supposed to be. The config file is /etc/ircddbgateway

Bob, my Pi2 started doing exactly the same thing yesterday (i.e., "Starting/Stopping the IRC Receiver thread"). It wouldn't connect to anything. I finally turned it off after several re-boots made no improvement. I thought that perhaps I'd fried the microSD card... but to see the exact issue mentioned by another user concerns me.
Also I need to find a gentle way to turn off my Pi2 when I use the hotspot in my car. I worry that simply removing the 5v DC power is bad for the microSD card. I tried the remote control system suggested by Brian Naylor, Michael VK5ZEA and others but while that works fine with other images it doesn't work with DStar Commander. Any thoughts?

More than likely the rr.openquad.net server was down then.
DStar Commander has an included "SHUTDOWN" command to gracefully shut down the Pi.

I have been trying various thigs to get the rr.openquad.net to connect. I reloading a fresh image form the downlink page. I used the interactive tool to initially configure my pi with the dualband mega board(FYI also have two other PI all RPI P2) On is the dualband mega, anoter is the single band meaga and the third is a dvrptr. All work fine connecting to reflectors. Occasionally the cs linking will wok with the DTMF command. Not consistent. See log below: Also on the openquadnet live status page I am not seeing my call sign. Seeing lots of other activity. Below I also copie and paste from nano the changes I made to /etc/ircddbgate file. Also here is a link to the openquad.net live status page: www.openquad.net/node/5 Looks pretty active. Do you have port forwarding for ports 30001-30010 set up in your router to forward those ports to the RasPi running DStar Commander? That's required to use the DExtra protocol...and only one device behind your router will be able to use DExtra as a result of needing the port forwarding.
Also, depending on your router, you may need to explicitly open some other ports for DCS/CCS, although usually it isn't needed. See www.k6jm.com/portforwarding.htm for details.Regards

Thanks for the info Bob.
I have not opened any ports on the router. On the Maryland Dstar image I was using prior to DSTAR commander That was not necessary. It has been working just fine for the past several months without opening ports on the router. Would DSTAR Commander be different?
I just started from scratch again and although I am still getting the start and stop messages, the CS routing seems to be working more reliable. Although not perfect. A not just the CS routing but on many of the commands sometimes it doesn't accept it the first try and have to do it a second time.
I can certainly open the ports and give it a try.
Thanks for ur help.

I just dug into it some more...I was incorrect on needing dExtra to access the ircddb database. dExtra is only used by the xReflectors (which can also use DPlus without need for port forwarding).
I also was able to duplicate a problem accessing ircddb with my dvMega dual and V1.11, but I have no idea what is happening as of now. A RasPi model B and a DVAP work OK...go figure. You might try reverting to V1.10 to see if that works.

I found that I had a few extra trailing spaces after my callsign in the ircddbUsername= field in the /etc/ircddbgateway config file. Once those were deleted, the starting/stopping IRC receiver thread messages stopped and ircddb began to connect.

Thank for investigating further Bob. The dualband Mega board I am using is: www.gigaparts.com/SearchResults.html?search=dualband+mega&Submit2.x=0&Submit2.y=0Another link from the UK.. www.dvmega.auria.nl/ Its the one in the picture off to the right. (NEWS) Also Although I did get it directly from the UK about months ago and have been using it with the Maryland dstar image and working without any issues. Appreciate all the assistance. Will check for trailing spaces and then try the previous version. Thank u all. Dave/AD4UU

Regards Bob: Using a Raspberry Pi2 and a single band dvMega I still can't get ircddb to connect to rr.openquad.net. I haven't tried using version 1.10 due to time constraints but I'll try to do so in the next couple of days. I don't really think it matters for what I'm doing, however. 73
