Using my trx I would like to remotely set my Raspberry Pi to connect to one of two wifi networks available (either my home broadband or the hotspot on my mobile phone). Could someone let me know how to set this up please.

Are you using DStar Commander? If so, the DStar Config utility included in the download allows you to configure up to three wifi connections just by answering the Q&A. Once configured, you switch between them by transmitting with URCALL in your radio set to "WIFICFGx" where x is config 1, 2 or 3 as you specified in the setup. So, for example, transmitting briefly on your hotspot's freq with WIFICFG2 set in the radio's URCALL field would cause the hotspot to select whatever wifi connection you defined in the setup as the #2 config.
You have to use DStar Config to configure DStar Commander in order to use this feature. If you manually configure the Pi, the WIFICFG command won't work.

Thank you for pointing me into right direction Bob. I am half way through the setup. The commands I send from the radio are being received but not executed. In DStar Config next to the WIFICFG1 in the command line I have put the following: sudo iwconfig wlan0 essid NETWORK key s:PASSWORD but unfortunately system does not connect to the network. Can you recommend a solution? Many thanks for your help.

Did you configure the hotspot using the DStarConfig.exe PC application?

If you set it to look for one of two wifi networks and set the priority network, it will switch on it's own.
