Hi,
I’m using an (Icom ID-51A Plus) with an RPi3 and a DVMega setup with D-Star repeater and ircDDBGateway.
I connect to the ircDDBGateway and link to REF, DCS and XRF reflectors just fine and I even see my callsign on the reflectors’ weblogs but I can’t hear anyone!
I tried two different images (Jessie WD image and D-Star Commander) but I still can’t hear anything.
I am just wondering if this is a router port forwarding issue or is it because I’m not registered on the D-Star network or possibly some other issue!!!
Any feedback/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

When you say you can't "hear" it...are you seeing a signal on the radio's S-meter? If not, it could be a bad 7021 RF chip on the dvMega...or if you're seeing RF, maybe your radio isn't properly configured (volume, mode)...or perhaps the dvMega and radio are slightly off freq from each other?
If you're able to link to any reflector, it's not a port forwarding problem, because there is two-way communication involved in establishing and maintaining a link using all of the protocols. If you weren't passing packets, you wouldn't be able to link at all.
It would be a good idea to either VNC in or attach a monitor/keyboard/mouse and see what the hotspot is doing by watching the GUI windows.

Thanks Bob. I actually do monitor the RPi3 via VNC and I see that my radio transmits to the DVMega when I push PTT. I hear my radio announcing callsigns, information (e.g. Linked, Unlinked), and reflector names.
I connect to repeaters and reflectors just fine and I see my callsign on the live reflector weblogs. I hear myself back when I Echo Test and I can also hear my daughter and she can hear me when both radios (ID-51A Plus) connect to the DVmega.
I just don't hear anyone else talking on any gateway linked repeaters or reflectors.
As mentioned above, please keep in mind that I'm still waiting for the D-Star registration. I registered about a week ago on NJ2DG but I haven't received any response.
Could that be the reason why?

No, USTrust registration is only required on the REF reflectors, and that only affects your ability to transmit through the reflectors--receive should work in any event. XRF reflectors do not require registration.
FWIW, I just checked and there is no active registration for KD2LQJ on the US Trust as of right now.
You might try throwing out a call on XRF002A...someone (e.g. me) is usually hanging out there.

Just to be sure, I reset my router to factory settings and set port forwarding on the router for the RPi3 using the following ports (the RPi3 has a static local IP on the router):
DExtra UDP, 30001 DExtra gateway and reflector linking DCS UDP, 30051-30059 DCS gateway and reflector linking D-Plus UDP, 20001-20009 D-Plus gateway and reflector linking CCS UDP, 30061-30065 CCS callsign or repeater routing G2 Routing UDP, 40000 For callsign and repeater routing
I tried to scan the ports via several port scanning websites and they all report the ports as "filtered". I also ran a netstat on the RPi3 and non of the above ports were listed!!!
I'm going to try a different router this afternoon and I'll report back later with my findings. Hopefully a solution will be found soon.
Best regards,

That's completely normal. When you initiate a link, the outbound traffic opens a hole in the SPI firewall in the router. Otherwise the ports remains closed (filtered).
The only port that needs inbound port forwarding is 30001 to support DExtra on non-4th generation XReflectors. XRF002, XRF310, and XRF555 are all 4th-gen XRFs.
I think you're barking up the wrong tree. If firewall blocking were an issue, you wouldn't get a link to any kind of reflector.

It's finally fixed! I'm not sure exactly what caused the no sound issue but here are the changes I made to my setup. It may one day help someone else dealing with a similar issue.
-As suggested on a DD-WRT support forum to disable UPnP if running port forwarding.
-In ircDDB, changed server to CCS701 instead of CCS704! (DCS and CCS are both Enabled by default)
-In ircDDB's Misc tab, I disabled GUI Log and D-RATS (Everything else is enabled)
-In D-star configuration, Enabled Voice in the Beacon tab.
BTW, the D-Star registration was finalized today as well.
Thanks again for your feedback Bob.
Best regards.
