Greetings,
I am using DstarCommander_V2.01_dvap.zip on a UHF DVAP which I configured using the DStarConfig.exe file. All is working great! I am going to be traveling over the holidays and would like to add a couple wifi connections to the configuration and can't readily determine where to make my edits without having to start from scratch.
Can I please get a pointer on how to:
(1) add a new wifi network (2) add my iPhone (Personal Hotspot) (3) set the priority of the existing plus these two new connections?
Thanks Jon W6TRF

Best to put the SD card back in your PC reader, and re-run the DStarConfig.exe program. No need to reflash the entire image...the hotspot will reconfigure itself when it sees the new config file.
Also, a pointer for travel--once you get it running the way you want, make a duplicate SD card in case the card goes south while you're travelling. That's saved me a few times.
Merry Christmas

Thanks Bob. I did not know that I didn't know I could run the DStarConfig program multiple times. I also discovered there is a wifi config utility on the desktop which is visible if you use a HDMI cable to a monitor.

Just be aware that if you use the desktop wifi config utility, you'll lose the ability to switch wifi connections with the RF command, as the DStarConfig.exe program writes some additional info into the config files to facilitate that feature.

Thanks Bob. I was able to try out the new network connection prior to my trip at my home QTH. Specifically, I was able to exercise my iphone as a wifi connection. After arriving at my destination, I tried booting up the rpi with DV dongle and whenever I try to link to a reflector it replies "not linked". Since I don't have a monitor with me on the trip, I was able to connect using VNC and am able to view the various tabs of both the D-Star Config and Gateway config. I had "screen shot" my working setup prior to leaving home and have confirmed the TABS appears to have the exact settings as I did at home. Wifig config shows me as connected with a status of "Completed (station)". I have turned logging on but not sure where the log files are being writting. I will keep looking. In D-Star Repeater window I have the following entires in the log:
M:2016-12-25 23:58:46: Network header received - My: W6TRF /INFO Your: CQCQCQ Rpt1: W6TRF G Rpt2: W6TRF B Flags: 00 00 00 M:2016-12-25 23:58:46: Transmitting to - My:W6TRF /INFO Your:CQCQCQ Rpt1:W6TRF G Rpt2:W6TRF
In the ircDDB Gateway window:
Status ircDDB: Disabled (which has always been the case even when it worked) D-PRS Active
Links: Repeater 1: W6TRF B Not linked (the others are blank)
Nothing listed under Dongles
Log (date/timestamp): Link command from W6TRF B to REF001 C issued via UR Call by W6TRF (date/timestamp): REF001 C is unknown, ignoring link request
There are also some various APRS log entries. My suspecion is that something is wrong with the ircDDB since REF001 C is unknown, but again, my notes from the working config also had "ircDDB:Disabled"
I had cycled power several times in my working home config so I believe the power on config (minus the wifi connection) should be good. Unfortunately, I don't have my microSD card writer/reader on vacation so I can't run the D-Star Config.exe while on vacation.
Appreciate any thought/ideas you have.
Merry Christmas. Jon W6TRF

Bob, have read a number of posts, I think I am missing some basic principles in working with RPi (and Dstar Commander in particular). I am a newbie to both :-) In trying to resolve the above problems, I have made some edits (using VNC) to the D-Star confi and ircDDBGateway files. I do a save and then power cycle the rpi. Reading some threads, it appears this might not be a good idea and perhaps I should do a shutdown. Is there a link to the correct procedure of how to modify the configuration files and perform a save and them "restart" the system? Is that power cycling the rpi or some other command line option/command? My first goal is to just get my rpi based dongle working again but believe there are a ton of other options I'm not even aware of yet ;-)
Many thanks again for your help.
Jon

ircDDB is not needed for a connection. It is only used for callsign routing. It sounds like you are not getting a good internet connection at startup and the host file addresses are not being resolved, which will result in the "not linked" message when attempting to link.
The log files are located in /var/log on the Pi.
The commands are documented in the included documentation. There are RF commands provided for both restarting (warm boot) and shutdown of the pi...those should be used rather than power cycling the pi with the OS running, as that can scramble the SD card.
Changing wifi connections requires restarting the networking subsystem and the ircddbgateway program...the RF WIFICFG commands do this automatically when used. There are options during setup to either set the pi to look through and connect to the first available connection among up to three available wifi connections in order of definition, or to connect only to a specific one of the configured wifi connections. Once the Pi is connected to a wifi connection, the hotspot software cannot fall back to another wifi connection if the original connection is lost...a restart will be needed. The networking system on the Pi may indeed initiate a connection to one of the secondary connections, but the hotspot software can't deal with a change in the Pi's IP address mid-stream. I configure my portable hotspots to only connect to the specified wifi connection so that they don't latch onto one of the others and then lose it when you move away or turn one off.

Thanks Bob. - I have confirmed that ircDDB is disabled since I am not using callsign routing (yet)
- I have historically used crude power cycle to reboot but will start using the reboot command. I am hoping that my SD card isn't corrupted
- RE wifi connection, when it was working at home, I had a single wifi connection defined. I am connected to the Rpi via a wireless VNC. Using wificonfig I removed both my iphone and home network so that I only have one wifi network defined. I believe the connection is reliable as that is how I see what is going on with the wireless VNC
- I haven't tried any of the RF commands but plan on reading up on those tomorrow
I have attached the Dstar and IRC log files in case you see anything obvious in my setup. My radio configuration has not changed so i don't believe that is an issue.
Thanks again Jon

I think I might be honing in on the source of my problem. I am connected to the RPi through the VNC. When I open the wifi config utility, it shows that I am connected to the correct wifi network, however when I view the /etc/cmdprocess.conf file it shows my home router. I have edited the SSID and PW to reflect my current location. The last step in the instructions says I need to cd to /home/pi and then perform a sudo ./wificonfig, however I don't seem to find that command in that or any other directory. Is there some subtlety I am missing here?
Thanks

Another useful tip is to edit /etc/default/rcS changing the last line to the obvious: ... # automatically repair filesystems with inconsistencies during boot #FSCKFIX=no becomes: FSCKFIX=yes
