The text message I have in my ID-51 A+ gets garbled. I have a UHF DVAP with a Raspberry Pi 2 with DSTAR Commander. I used ID-51 Plus software from RT Systems to program the TX Messages. The message looks fine in the radio, but most of the time when I see the resulting message on a reflector's Dashboard, the text is garbage, or at least a portion of it is either missing or incorrect. Has anyone else noticed anything similar? I am trying to figure out if this is a problem with the image on my Pi or if it's a problem with my radio, or something entirely different.

The low-speed data portion of the DStar data stream does not have any forward error correction applied to it like the header and voice payload do. So corruption of the low-speed data is generally indicative of a significant bit error rate in the stream. Operation at the fringe of the usable range of an RF device, or having the DVAP and radio off frequency from one another are both common causes with RF hotspot devices. You might try Moe Wheatley's DVAP frequency calibration utility, available from the sourceforge website at: sourceforge.net/projects/dvaputil/Regards
