A request for a new RF Command:
Equipment: DVMega board on a Raspberry Pi 3
With the current configuration of DStar Commander, one has to manually set the RF Power of the modem in the configuration program. That power level setting is not alterable on the fly. I would like to see a "POWER*" command (like POWERLO, POWERMID, and POWERHI) which would be followed by a reboot of the hotspot.
Why? In my home, I'd like to use the full or middle power settings depending on where the hotspot is physically located. In the car, I'd like to lower the power to the low setting as the ID-51A will be only a few feet from the hotspot. No point in exposing one's self to extra RF radiation.
Proposed power levels:
POWERLO around 10% or 1 mw POWERMID around 50% or 5 mw POWERHI at full power or 10 mw
What do you folks think about this request?

The power density produced by an ID-51A transmitting at its lowest power (100mW) 0.1m from your head is 1000 times higher than that of a DVAP or dvMega 1m away transmitting at its highest power (10mW).
So if RF radiation mitigation is what you're after, you are barking up the wrong tree entirely...getting the HT antenna away from your body will be far more effective than changing the hotspot power.
In any event, I'm not planning on any extensions to the DStar Commander RF command protocol at this time.
