Hi guys
Before you start shouting 'you're on the wrong forum you should be on an Icom Forum' yes don't I know it and I've now worn the T Shirt for many months too" so what's your problem then you ask ??
I'd love to have my Icom 5100 radio on DStar as I have my Icom 2820 and have done for many years but the 5100 refuses to know our local DStar repeater GB7WP which is ONLY 0.5 mile from me. I can access and QSO through the repeater with a local no problem but it refuses to allow me to operate 'thro' the repeater to DStar.
Icom UK have been through the settings with me many times and looked at my setting which I did using RTS software and confirm it is correct.
They say they will gladly have a look at the TX but say it will be away about 3 months and no idea of the cost of repair. In the 'homework' I have done myself it says the original firmware (which it is) has caused operators many problems with DStar and the 5100 and recommend a firmware update which I have tried, but it just refuses to allow the update and will not even start the process, of course using the RTS cable and firmware download. Strangely Icom say the firmware update is not required despite what forums state and includes, it's OK if it won't update cos its not necessary ugh ??
If you can solve this you will go to the top of my Christmas Card list rest assured.
Have a good day !!

Well it has taken a L O N G time but I have found the fault. There is a RESET button on the back of the display which had stuck ON I renewed the switch and all's well, what a relief. I have another question which I will post shortly.
