A general question about DSTAR Commander. I am using a DHAP (self contained Pi, etc) and the image supplied with the DHAP. I have had a few issues where it would not connect without rebooting several times. I tried using my Maryland image in the DHAP and it seemed to pretty much fix the connect issue but created the issue that I saw mentioned in this forum concerning the "linking to REF" message. I wonder if using the DSTAR Commander would be a better choice or am I heading down a bumpy road. Just curious. Thanks for any ideas.
One , more thing, it may be that the Win32 imaging software does not work with my Windows 8.1 but I am having a heck of a time getting the .img file imaged to the SD card. I start the write process and about 20 or so minutes later it finishes. I try the configuration utility and it tells me that the target SD card (drive E) does not contain an image and aborts. I have tried several SD cards and even a thumb drive for grins. A simple issue, I am sure but I am missing something.
I tried the imaging process with Windows Vista and it worked the first try. So, I guess it does not like my Windows 8.1 machine. I plan on trying the new SD Card in my DHAP tomorrow.

DStar Commander works just fine in a DHAP. It's designed with the mobile/portable operator in mind, and eliminates the need for special port configurations.
Another user had the same problem with an apparently blank image, and a re-download of the image fixed it for him. You should make sure that you are running Win32diskimager as Admin, too.

Bob, Thanks for the response. I am not sure what the issue was but the disk imager works great on my Windows 8.1 laptop with two other PI images. I never got it to work on the Comander image. I just used another laptop and it worked the first time. I just wanted to play with several images. They all seem to work great. I am not a power user so I am not able to tell much difference in either of the three I tried.
My next project is a DSTAR Hotspot.
Thanks again, Chip WB0LBZ
