One of the new capabilities of DStar Commander is the ability to establish a watchlist--a group of callsigns that your gateway watches for, and then sends you a text and/or e-mail when they are seen by the gateway.
There are six commands for the watchlist, and the command characters always go in the 7th and 8th char of the URCALL field:
AW - add to watchlist
CW - clear the watchlist
DW - delete from watchlist
LW - load a watchlist (from file)
PW - print the watchlist
SW - save the watchlist (to file)
The CW, LW, PW, and SW commands are not callsign-specific, and they are send with six blanks preceding them, i.e. "______CW" (six blanks then CW) clears the watchlist.
The AW and DW command take a callsign in the first six characters, then the command in positions 7 and 8. If the call is less than six chars, pad it at the end with blanks so that the AW/DW is always in positions 7/8. So to add W0HAM to the watchlist, the command would be "W0HAM_AW"...to delete W2MM from the list, send "W2MM__DW" (two blanks after the call).
The watchlist is volatile, meaning it resides in memory only, and does not survive a reboot. To keep a list across restarts, save it to file with the "SW" command and reload it with the "LW" command after restarting. To clear a saved list, you clear the watchlist with "CW", then save the empty list with the SW command. Note that the "LW" command *replaces* the current list, it does not add to it.
Once a call on the watchlist is detected, a text/e-mail alert is sent to you by the program, and that call is removed from the watchlist. If you want to get alerts on that call again, you will need to either add the call back in with the "AW" command, or reload a list that contains that call in it. If you want to make a regular practice of watching for friends, it's a good idea to program the appropriate "AW" command(s) into the memories in your radio.
There is no set limit on the number of calls to watch for.
