Downloaded and installed 1.12 image and all is working well My only problem is that the wifi dongle does not always light up on boot. It only works 1 out of 4 times or so. I have a new v2 pi and I can sometimes get the wifi working by changing the USB port but the gateway does not connect. Anybody have any suggestions?

Charlie, maybe your Pi power supply isn't man enough for the job? A wifi dongle draws additional power so if it's an intermittent fault, that could be the issue. I tried running my DV Mega/Pi unit off a small 'Power Monkey' power bank. It worked fine for about an hour then I lost the wifi. I now run it off a significantly bigger power bank and it runs for 6 hours without any wifi dropouts.

You really should use a good quality 2+ amp power supply.

I have been measuring the current draw on my Pi2 and VHF DVAP, and even during transmit, the current draw never exceeds 520ma.

Current is only part of the issue...voltage stability is another. Many cheap USB wall warts are rated at 1A, but the voltage sags unacceptably under load. Also, many cheap USB cables use tiny 28 ga conductors that cause an unacceptable voltage drop--even worse with longer extended reach cables.
The best way to check is to measure the voltage across the test points on the Pi itself...less than 4.75v indicates a power supply problem.
