Hi thanks for the interest.
I have posted this on the Raspi Forum had replies but nothing wonderful so thought I may find a 'genius' here as it is a Commander Image I am trying to load and not Raspian or NOOBS.
'Heap big problem' have just tried to update my Raspi from V2 to V3 BIG mistake so far. Using it with a DVMega is fine with the P2 but not with the P3.
P2 boots fine through the Linux data stream and onto the desktop a little slowly but at least is gets there. The P3 'oh dear' it 'flashes' through the data streaming amazingly quickly then a blank screen which does not change even if left on for a long period hoping to see something happen. Remove the card from the P3 place it back into the P2 and away it goes 100% OK.
Have done a LOT of reading and drawn a blank, What have I done ?? on recommendation I have purchased 'good' quality and recommended SD cards (not from eBay), FULL formatted one with SDFormatter and downloaded a new latest version of Commander Image but alas STILL the same blank screen the new card booting into the desktop OK using the P2. Thought I'd try NOOBS 1.9 as an experiment but it only accepts 91Mb before the BLACK screen of death (the Linux version of the dreaded Microsoft BSD?) Have tried it a million times with clean SD formats and new versions of NOOBS and Raspian ugh!
It has been suggested that my problem is perhaps the firmware and it needs updating, problem is HOW! as I have tried Ctrl Alt F?? and nothing happens I personally think I should update the firmware but can't find a way to do it. My power supply is 100% a nice clean 4amps.
I am really despondent now and feel like chucking the whole idea of an upgrade, why do we do these things as the old P2 was perfect? However I thought the 'fast boot' was just the job whilst using the Pi in the car, wrong!!! not a good idea thusfar.
I feel like returning the Pi from whence it came but I am not a defeatist and would rather suss the problem especially as RASPi says their boards are checked and are 100% reliable and OK on despatch.
If you can solve this you will go straight to the top of my Christmas card list.
Thanks for the interest
