We have a situation that seems difficult to solve, please. Using v2.01 Commander and an Edimax EW-7811un wifi adapter, the RPi2 sees the adapter (lsusb and ifconfig) but it is not acquiring an IPv4 address from either of the two wifi hotspots configured via the interactive PC setup.
Both the Verizon Jetpack and smartphone SSIDs appear correctly in the /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa-supplicant.conf, and /etc/network/interfaces hands off the configuration to wpa_supplicant which is running. The remote owner assures me that both spelling and case-sensitivity are correct for both passwords and SSIDs (simple 5-character alphabetics, no dashes or special characters).
All OS software is updated, and "apt-get -y install firmware-realtek firmware-ralink firmware-linux" insures that all firmware is updated, but still no ip address on either the Ralink or Edimax wifi adapters, only one at any time during a boot-cycle.
Your suggestions are appreciated.

Could the owner have chosen incorrect WiFi options (country code, protocol, encryption) for his/her router in the D-Star Commander setup script?

I'd check to make sure MAC address enumeration or something like it is not set...sounds like the router DHCP is not assigning an address. Another place to look to see what might be (or not be) happening is the log in the router.

Thank you John, that turned out to be the case. The owner had used WPA instead of RSN.
