So every time I do a Host Update I run into problems. The software will run fine for a while then I come back later and I have been disconnected. I am presented with all kinds off errors of it not being able to connect, for example I can't reconnect to 01C, then it throws out errors about not being able to connect to servers like the APRS servers etc... If I revert and reinstall the image to a fresh start things run fine.
So the question is do I need to update the Hosts? Can I get by without updating?
Running Raspberry Pi V3B w/DVmega
Thank you and 73, Ryan WC6Q

If it's running OK right after the host update, then the host update did its job...I doubt it's the update itself causing a problem. You could try rebooting the Pi after the update, but I'd more suspect it's an issue with the SD card.
Also, a host update more than once a month or so is overkill...I don't update the host files on the servers more often than that.

I will give another card a try and then reboot once I do the update. I'll keep you posted. 73, Ryan WC6Q

Is there an auto-retry cycle if the REF ip addresses are not retrieved on startup?
I find running HOSTUPDT gets things moving when it will not connect to REF's.

Negative on the auto-retry.
As I posted on another thread, your issue is most likely a very slow response from the DHCP server on your router. Could also be a very slow start-up on your router...have hared of that issue with GM vehicle wifi before, in which case it might be a good idea to wait for the wifi to come up before starting the hotspot.
