I just loaded the DStar Commander imaged SD into my new Rpi B+ and am having problems getting it to work with my DVAP and ID-51A. I am using the Basic setup instructions that were in the Docs file that downloaded with the img. file. I suspect that in addition to the basic instructions listed, there may be other tabs in the ircgateway cofig app that need to be set also. Is there more detailed instructions available? I cannot keyup any reflectors. The "HALT" command is not recognized after initial basic setup. WIFI is up and running properly. Can access the internet via Midori. Is there something obvious I am missing.
Thanks Tony WA2LNC

When you key up the radio, do you see your radio's MY and UR call in their respective fields in the DStarRepeater window? After the Pi boots up, do you hear "not linked" come through the radio?

Redid the setup and finally got it to key up using my ID-51A. So it looks like it's all working fine. I have another question....when I configured the Wi-Fi- settings, I intentionally did two, one for my home LAN and one for my cable providers hotspots around the the state. Will the RPi automatically pick up the open hotspots outside of my home or do I have to toggle to the other config? If so, can I send a command from the ht to switch to the other config?
Thanks again for the support.

It'll depend on how you did the WiFi configuration...normally if you configure several using the Raspian WiFi setup, it'll look for the connections in order and connect to the first one that works. That said, automatic switching between connections is far from seamless. The RF commands to actively switch WiFi connections in DStar Commander will only work if the WiFi was configured in the DStar Commander setup dialog, as the setup inserts some formatted comments that DSC uses to swap the WiFi connections.

I noticed in the documentation that there was command listed, "WIFICFGx". Will this command in the UR field of my HT allow to switch configurations if it does not happen automatically?
Thanks

Thanks Tony WA2LNC Yes, but only if you've configured it with the supplied utility as I 'splained in the post above. Regards

This is not very clear, Bob. I set up my WiFi using the "WiFi Config" utility and the steps outlined in your Basic Setup. If I understand you correctly, there is another utility or different setup procedure other than the way I did it to be able to use the wi fi switching command.

There's a Windows utility named DStarConfig included in the download that sets up the RF-selectable WiFi configuration, as well as the ability to configure the hotspot by making manual entries to the cmdprocess.conf file and doing the fully automatic setup. Manual (basic) setup using Raspbian's native Wifi Config GUI does not do the DStar Commander-specific configuration necessary for RF-commanded WiFi switching. As a Mac user, your best/easiest bet to enable the capability to do real-time RF-commanded wifi swapping is to find a friend with a Windows machine and configure the image with DStarConfig with the SD card mounted on a reader on the Windows box. Once you get it where you want it, make a copy of the configured card and use that as your baseline image.
