Hi there - new to the group, and impressed with the wealth of info, and feature-rich nature of this latest image!
A couple of questions related to possibly using this setup mobile:
-Does the image have "WiFi connection maintenance" features whereby it will search for and connect to WiFi profiles in your list if one of them is lost? (e.g. - Starting out at home, with Pi on battery power, then pull away in your car with the Pi+DVAP in tow, will it re-scan once it loses your home WiFi, and find/connect to your mobile hotspot, provided you enter the details during setup?)
-Can you set a preferred reflector for the system to automatically connect to, and maintain connection and reestablish connection whenever cellular data is lost/reestablished (such as while traveling in poor cellular coverage areas)?
THANKS IN ADVANCE!
Mike

The Pi might automatically find another connection if you have it configured in non-exclusive access mode, but the G4KLX DSTAR software is not generally going to like having the internet connection (and IP address) changed while connected to anything. It's more stable to operate in exclusive mode and explicitly trigger the WiFi change with the WIFICFG command from the radio.
ircddbgateway does allow a default reflector connection at startup...you will have to access the ircddbgatewayconfig program via VNC or using a monitor/kbd/mouse on the Pi, and set the desired reflector in the appropriate "Repeater" tab.

Very good, thanks Bob! Yes, I did find the Pi in non-exclusive mode does a good job of finding/connecting to another wifi access point in my list if one drops.
I noticed you are also in the CO front range area (I'm in Aurora). . I wondered if you might have any suggestions regarding how I could link to W0CDS (Denver gateway). Despite being successful linking to reflectors, and other repeater gateways, for some reason I can't link to any of the W0CDS modules. I can hit the repeater with my ht, but would like to use the DVAP for more reliable connection and to preserve HT battery.
Appreciate it!!

Mike--the default hosts files only include reflectors. To connect to a repeater gateway like W0CDS, you'll need to add it to one of the hosts files. The best way is to create a file named DPlus_Hosts.txt in the root directory, and put this line into it:
W0CDS 74.205.157.248 L
The hosts files in the root directory are not touched by updates, and they override the hosts files in /usr/local/etc as long as the "L" appears at the end of the line.

Regards Bob, Hi! Thank you for this information. I was having the same issue/question about how to link to W0CDS as well. I placed a file named DPlus_Hosts.txt into my root directory 'pi@raspberrypi / $' , I placed one line into it, W0CDS 74.205.157.248 L - I checked the corresponding file in /usr/loca/etc after a reboot of the Pi but I do not see the entry for W0CDS and I am still unable to link to it. Thanks again, Patrick

Patrick--the root directory is /root *not* /$ (/$ is actually shorthand for the home directory, which in the image is /home/pi).
Also, placing a top-level hosts file in the root directory will not make any change in the file in the /usr/local/etc directory. ircddbgateway has a hierarchical priority scheme--it will use any entry found in the root level hosts files first, if not there then the lower-level hosts files in /usr/local/etc, and then anything retrieved from the online callsign server. If any entry in the hosts files is locked with a "L" at the end of the line, any lower level entry for that host is ignored. So if a root level entry is present and locked, any entry for the same host in either the lower-level host file in /usr/local/etc or the callsign server is ignored. If locked in the /usr/local/etc hosts file, a corresponding host retrieved from the callsign server is ignored.

Bob- thanks for the additional clarification on the /root folder. It's working for me now. . I can connect to W0CDS!
Say I noticed I could connect to another repeater stack - W5ETX in Tyler, TX, without adding the IP address to the file in discussion. Is that because it's a DPLUS repeater stack? Would only the FreeStar repeaters (like W0CDS) need to be added in manually?
Thanks for your patience and support!
Mike
