Now these turkeys come out with a new Pi 2 B. Faster processor, more ram. Is there going to be someone working on updating Commander software to accommodate this new Pi??? I read that the Pi requires different software for booting this new Pi up. Thanks to all.

From what I've read, all that will be needed is a Linux kernel update to the existing image to make it compatible with the RasPi V2. If that's true, an updated image should be forthcoming, although I also want to wait for some details on the new dual-band DV-Mega RadioPi board so that both might be covered in a single update cycle.

Thanks so much for the update. Great to know that you are on top of all this. As the new Pi will be faster and could be a great improvement for the Mega System. Thanks again.

The faster Pi is not likely going to make any difference with the dvMega...the Model B/B+, even with the overhead of the GUI running, typically sits at ~20% CPU utilization running DStar Commander and the G4KLX ircDDBGateway/DStarRepeater suite. A faster CPU is just going to use more power and generate more heat to do exactly the same thing, except maybe the CPU will sit idle 90% of the time rather than 80% of the time. In fact, some of the early Pi V2 reviews suggest that the CPU on the new board could get hot enough to need some augmentation to the free-air cooling that has worked for the Pi up to this point.

Very good explanation Bob. This is why we ask the folks that really know the situation. Cheers and thanks

The V1.1 download links have been added to the public release thread pinned at the top of this forum.

Hi Bob, thanks for the update. BUT, it does not work right. Attempted to load up a SD, and when you try to use the configure file, it aborts, because it states that the image is for a DVAP. The image loads great as usual. Just thought I would let you know. Take care.

Crap...somehow the DVAP and dvMega version files got crossed during the build. Reuploading a new image now. Sorry 'bout that.

No, the DVAP version should be working...what Pi version are you using?

No, the DVAP version should be working...what Pi version are you using? Regards The RPI 2. I have two of them and 2 images. I get the same results. If I plug the DVAP back into the RPI 1 (Maryland D-star version), then the DVAP works fine. Thanks.

All of the Raspbian OS updates that are required for the Pi2 have been added, and the updated image was tested and verified to work with the B and the B+. I don't have a Pi2 to do any testing on here...that will be some weeks away.
Westerndstar has at least one image that is supposed to work on the Pi2...you might try that one for now.

You might try running this command in a terminal window (then reboot afterwards): sudo rpi-update

I ran a couple additional passes of the Raspbian updates, and it appears possible that, despite no errors, one or more of the updated OS files didn't successfully update on the DVAP image.
Here's what I recommend trying (in order):
1. Download and flash the 1.10a version of the (DVAP) image (up now on the pinned public release page) 2. If, after configuring and booting on the Pi2 it still can't find the DVAP, then run: sudo rpi-update Then reboot and try again. 3. If that doesn't work, add the following to /boot/cmdline.txt: dwc_otg.speed=1 Then reboot and try again.
If any of these solve your problem, or if the image works for you without modification on a RPi2, please post that here--without a RPI2 here I am really operating in the dark.

Sorry about the delay, but apparently your site was extremely busy. The image wasn't able to download until early this morning. Good News! It booted and ran just fine. Right now I am getting errors connecting to DExtra reflectors but it has been connected to REF030C for about 12 hours now. I will have to investigate the source of the errors. Thanks for the fix.
