I have noticed after a couple of restarts I am unable to use VNC to access the Raspberry Pi. The VNC request times out. The DStar server is running and is supporting the dongle. However, I cannot connect via VNC. The only way I have found to correct this is to refresh the image and rerun DSTAR Commander. Any suggestions?

I've seen several different kinds of VNC servers do this on the RasPi...usually, just attempting to connect again works after a timeout. You also want to make sure you don't leave a VNC client window open (and perhaps minimized) on your desktop (or on another computer)--if you try to connect to the same Pi with another instance of VNC client open somewhere you'll have these kinds of problems.
Also, make sure your firewall isn't interfering with the VNC client. I've heard of that happening, too.
Regards

That is what made me think something was getting corrupted. Maybe I need to be more patient. Thanks Bob N9QGU

Which VNC client are you using? You might consider trying another--there are a number of decent ones out there. I use TightVNC here.

The Pi was completely dead in the water when I got home tonight. I am sending it back to Amazon. I will get one of the new PI 2s. Is there any compatibility issues with the software?

DStar Commander V1.10 is an updated version designed to run on the Pi 2B (as well as on the Pi B/B+)

I picked up a PI 2 today. I plugged in the memory card and everything worked right out of the gate. Time will tell but things look good right now.

Everything is still functioning fine today. I am beginning to suspect that the loss of VNC was a functioning of the failing Pi. I am extremely pleased with how well this all works.

Going to drag up this topic as it pertains to one of my questions.
When using HDMI to DVI with the pi and a HP LP2065 monitor the top and bottom of the screen are black. The image doesn't fill the screen. When I use VNC the same screen is presented. If I go full screen the top and the bottom are still black. I can't for the life of me find the commands to correct the image sizes. It presents some difficulty reading the xterminal.
I'm using ubuntu as my OS on my desktop.
Also, I see that ircDDB has be up graded by G4KLX to March 2015. Will it be updated in a new image or is their a utility to do a live update?
Thank you
