Greetings and thank you for D-Star Commander. I have recently obtained a Dual Band DVMEGA Board from Guus and seem to be having difficulty getting the RF commands (REBOOT, SHUTDOWN etc) to work. I have tried it on a Rpi B+ and a Rpi 2 board. Any troubleshooting tips would be greatly appreciated. Used the Windows Config utility for the initial configuration.

How are you setting up the commands in your radio? (i.e. MYCALL, URCALL, RPT1/2)

The commands are in the URCALL field. They work fine on another Raspberry pi B+ connected to a DVAP (Red) using D-Star Commander.

Bob,
Disregard. I figured out my issue. I was configuring the device for a friend with his call sign info configured but using an HT with my call sign being transmitted. Did not realize the transmitting call sign of the radio MUST match the call sign configured in the software for the RF commands to work!
Thanks for a great piece of work!

Yup, that's to keep mayhem from erupting when multiple hotspots might be in range of each other (i.e. at a swap meet). Don't want one guy to reboot every hotspot in the arena! ;-)

It makes perfect sense! It was one of those V8 moments.
One additional question I would like your thoughts on. After getting past that little bump everything worked perfectly for me. Rpi V2B DVMEGA Dual Band boaed D-Star Commander 1.11 life is good. I can boot up and link to REF001C REF024A REF024C REF030C W8DF C (Our local Repeater)
without a problem. Did this multiple times. Took the hotspot to my friend who connected it to his home Internet router. He can connect to everything EXCEPT our local gateway W8DF C. Am I looking at a DNS resolution issue? Suggestions?

I'm assuming that, since you say it was working with W8DF at your QTH, you added W8DF to your hosts file. The hosts files distributed with DStar Commander and those downloaded from the update server only include reflectors--to use it with a repeater you need to add a host file entry into the root-level DPlus_Hosts.txt file as described here: How to add repeaters, private reflectors and other gatewaysAssuming that's been done, how did you define W8DF in DPlus_Hosts.txt? If it's not defined with an IP address (i.e. you are using a symbolic address that needs to be resolved) it could be a DNS issue...try replacing the symbolic address with the IP address. If it works with the IP address but not the symbolic host name, then you most likely do have a DNS problem. One other thought...if you got it working by editing /usr/local/etc/DPlus_Hosts.txt and then subsequently ran HOSTUPDT to download fresh hosts file from the server, you would have overwritten any changes to that file. Any hosts entries you add should be in /root/DPlus_Hosts.txt to avoid being overwritten during an update. Regards

Great Information and thanks. Further troubleshooting indicated that it continued to work fine at my QTH but not at his. It appears that at his QTH there is a slight delay in getting an IP address assigned by the DHCP server. His gateway application is loading BEFORE he has full Internet connectivity. If he waits, accesses the Pi and shuts down the gateway then restarts it, all is well. Do you have any suggestions for delaying the startup of the gateway app (maybe 15-20 seconds) to make sure he has Internet connectivity before it launches???
Thanks again! Almost there!!!
