Greetings, I am a big fan of DStar Commander. Have built many hotspots for hams using this software. Just recently I have received messages from 3 Hams who can no longer link their hotspots to W8MAI B or W8DF C gateways. Radio programming is good. They can connect to reflectors without an issue, just not gateways. I have had them send the HOSTUPDT UR command which completes sucessfully. Still cannot connect to gateways.
Any thoughts are appreciated.

The host files included with the DStar Commander install, as well as the automatic host updates, do not and never have included gateways--only reflectors. To connect to a gateway directly, you need to add the gateway definition to the root level DPlus_Hosts.txt file (e.g. /root/DPlus_Hosts.txt) and then restart the hotspot. If the file doesn't yet exist, you create it and put the definition there, each line has the call sign left-justified in capital letters, and then a tab or two spaces, then the url or IP address (no web addresses, for example W6XXX.comcast.net, NOT http://W6XXX.comcast.net) It's been that way since the first release. For more, see the pinned post Adding Repeaters and other gateways to DStar Commander's Host FileRegards

I understand. What I don't understand is why has it worked fine the last 2 years?? I never modified the DPlus_Hosts.txt file in the past.
