So I have the new Dual band DVMEGA board on the new RP2 and I am having a few issues. First, I am trying to change the bands using the FRQ command. It sends me a text saying that it has done it and also reboots, but the Frequency never changes. If I go into the PI and change the Dstar config file from there, it works. Is there another command I need to do or setting I need to setup to make this work? Second, when I do a SYSINFO command, it sends me the text with all the info, but the FREQ is 000.000. Is this the way it is or am I missing something here as well?
By the way I really like this image and it works well, I am just a Noob to this image
Thanks

The FRQ command cannot be used to change bands yet. The Maryland group is tinkering about with the concept.

The FRQ command should actually be working across both bands. I couldn't duplicate the error you're describing...it seems to be writing out the new freq to the config file as it's supposed to. If it's coming up as 000.000, it sounds as if the initial config wasn't done properly.
That said, a new image (1.10c) is now uploaded with a significant number of late-breaking updates to the OS related to the Pi V2, plus a few other tweaks. Recommend you give things a spin with the new version, and if it's still not working, I'll need more specifics on what you're doing that precipitates the error.

New image 1.10c is working just like it should. Changes FRQ as well as shows me the correct Information.
Thanks

Good to hear, Bill.
Among the recent updates to Raspbian were some changes to the gpio library, which could explain some of the early issues a few folks were experiencing with the dvMega Radio Pi boards on the RasPi 2B.

Received my DVMega Dualband Raspberry PI radio yesterday and loaded your image, all worked great. I did have to go back in and manually add it to my wireless network after I was done. I have another Pi with the same EDImax wifi dongle running the older version of commandeer and copied those settings, but it still did not work from DStarConfig. This is not a big deal, just thought I would let you know what small issue I had.
Thanks for all your work on this image. I have built my own several times, but yours makes it a snap to get a hotspot up and running quick.

I just downloaded the image for DV Mega. It worked great however, whenever I shutdown and power up again, it will not link to any repeater/reflector etc. If I take out the MicroSd and reprogram the parameters from scratch and I power back up, it works. Is there anything in the software that is wiping out settings etc. I find that I constantly have to rewrite the setting for it to work again.. it's like, it will work for first time set up and not after that. Help please!!!!

What sort of network connection are you using? How are you shutting down and repowering the pi?

Bob, I am using a wireless network connection and shutting down the Pi via the command functions on the radio (using "MYCALL" and "URCALL" command lines). It is a great mystery to me that it would intermittently lose its ability to connect to reflectors/repeaters after I power down and power back up again. Otherwise, when it does connect, it is solid and works like a charm. Any suggestions? I am in the process of downloading the v.1.10 image and I will try that however, I would much like to take advantage of the latest software. If I need to use the v1.10 just to get me up and running, so be it. Let me know your input please... Thanks!!

Reverting to V1.10 is a good first move--there are a small number of folks that have had problems with 1.11, and it appears to be related to some of the Raspbian changes in that version combined with the firmware on a handful of routers. I know of a couple people that had V1.11 working and then changed routers and things broke. reverting to V1.10 fixed it for them.
If that doesn't work, try it on a wired LAN connection and see if that works.
What sort of WiFi dongle (on the Pi) and router are you using?

I am using the "Wi-Pi" wireless dongle/module which came with the Raspberry Pi-2 DV-Mega Kit. With regards to the router which I have at home, I use an Apple Time-Capsule router.

You might try shutting down the Pi, then reboot your router, then fire up the Pi. If it connects, but won't reconnect, it would support the theory that something is lingering in the router tables that's making the reconnect problematic.
The WiPi is one of the hardware WiFi dongles that I tested the image with here...it works without trouble with a RasPi 2 and DVMega dual-band on a Netgear dual-band router.

Bob, just an update to the above. I downloaded the v1.10 for DV-Mega and followed your instructions on setting up using headless basic set-up. Got the RPi to work and after reboot everything worked fine. I used the system for about an hour then I shut down. After about 30mins, I switched on again. This time the RPi-2 and DV-Mega connected to Internet via an open wi-fi gateway (HotSpot off my cellphone) however, when I keyed the HT to connect to a repeater, it does not connect me to a repeater or reflector. I rebooted and after reboot, it works fine again. If I shutdown, it will repeat the process all over as in, the Rpi would connect to the internet but it will not link me to repeater or reflector until I perform a reboot once more. I was able to join a NET that was going on last night on the Papa System and I heard someone having the exact same problem and it was mentioned that it may have something to do with the squelching. i.e, when you key up, it does not connect you to a repeater or reflector if squelch if of certain level. I was not really too sure if that was the case as it would make no sense to me because we are operating on Digital. Any comments? let me know if I am doing anything wrong with my Radio set up or gateway set-up etc.... this DV-Mega works well and solid when it works, but its frustrating that I cannot shutdown and power back up without having to do something extra to get the thing to work... Any suggestions???

When you say it doesn't connect to a repeater or reflector, how exactly does the gateway respond to the connect command? "Linking to...", "Not linked" etc?
Some of the newer Icom radios combine the RF attenuator and the squelch into a single control...centered is no attenuation and no squelch, 180 deg of clockwise rotation from centered increases squelch to maximum, and 180 degress of counterclockwise rotation increases the RF attenuator to its maximum value. Folks that don't know about this turn what they think is the squelch control all the way down and end up inadvertently throwing in so much RF attenuation they can't receive a signal any longer. I don't think this is your issue.
You'll get some more insight by connecting a VNC client to your Pi or by connecting an HDMI monitor and watching the messages in the ircDDBGateway window and/or looking at the log files in /var/log

I just released V1.12 with some changes to network management. Suggest you give that a try before chasing this one further.
