What kind of RasPi and wifi dongle are you using, and which version of DStar Commander (version number and DVAP or dvMega)?

If you haven't tried configuring the image using the DstarConfig.exe utility in Windows, I recommend you try that.
If you can't get that to work, try reverting to V1.10--I still need to know whether you're using the DVAP or dvMega version of the image if you need a link to the older version.

I also cannot get 3 different WIFI units to be recognized. I am using the RPi2, DVMEGA, and Ver 1.1 It works great on the Ethernet cable. I did the configure and added the WIFI entries as directed. I have 2 of these systems and can't get either to recognize the WIFI dongles. I'm at a loss.

I've reposted the links to V1.10 in the pinned public release thread...if you are one of the handful of people having issues with your WiFi disappearing, I recommend reverting to 1.10 for the time being. And please post details of your configuration here--Raspberry pi version, DVAP or dvMega, WiFi dongle type, and router/access point type.

Thanks so much for the info. I am using RPi2, typical Bright House Motorola WIFI router. DVMega, and a Netgear WIFI dongle. I will burn another image with the 1.10. And then get back to you here. Appreciate the help.

Well after hours on end trying to get a WIFI Dongle to work, trying Versions 1.10, 1.11 on the RPI2, I have GIVEN UP. Could not get any of 3 WIFI RPI READY dongles to connect. So that's life. Seems to be something wrong, but I can not determine what that is. I did the Config right after burning image. Adding the SSID and pswd to no avail. Running WIN7 PRO with DVMega single band. And have 2 completely different DVMegas, and neither will see the WIFI dongles. Confirmed the Dongles function on a PC. SO, just throwing my hands up and surrendering to the RPI2. Had them functioning on RPI B+ boards, but not on RPI2's. Thanks for the suggestions Bob, I really do appreciate your efforts. This is one BIG thing I love about Ham radio over my 30 years.

Could be that you need updated drivers for the wifi dongle(s) you are using. I have tested the Realtek 8188/8192 based adapters (e.g. Edimax 7811), as well as the Ralink 5370 (e.g. WiPi) here. There are a lot of changes flowing to accomodate the RPI2, and it might be your netgear dongle drivers are not keeping up with all the OS/firmware updates. Typically, to search for updated drivers, you can use the apt-cache command, e.g.
sudo apt-cache netgear
Look to see if a package is listed for the dongle or chipset used in the dongle. If there is, you would run install with apt-get, e.g.
sudo apt-get install package-name-here
FWIW, I have tried a couple of Netgear dongles and found them to be a lot of trouble...the $9 for the Edimax u7811 dongle was well-spent.

Well I hate this Raspberry Pi. I have tried 3 different images, and 3 WIFI dongles, (Edimax, WIPI, and 5370). And none of them will connect to my Motorola Bright House Modem. This is being connected to a Raspberry Pi 2. It works great with the Ethernet cable connected. I can't figure out how to install the drivers into the Commander software. I'M LOST. May need to go back to a B+ PI and try that. The WIFI worked on the B+ Pi's great. So just don't understand this.

Well I have discovered that going back to the RPI B+ has resolved all my WIFI problems. Bob, I do so much thank you for all your efforts with the DStar Commander software, but, what you have for the RPI 2 just is not working properly. The software for the B+ works flawlessly. This is a heads up to all that are going to change over to the new RPI 2. Thanks again Bob, I do appreciate all the help.

The software was tested on the RasPi 2B with both the DVAP and the dvMega RadioPi dual-band using the Edimax u7811 and the WiPi (Ralink 5370) wifi cards, and on two different Netgear routers. So it does work properly with the RasPi 2.
I have had just a couple of problem reports...one friend in particular had everything working with 1.11 and then changed to a new Verizon router and had to revert to 1.10 to make his hotspot work (and he was using a model B). So there may be some kind of compatibility problem on the router side of the connection. Or you could also have a bad USB port or other issue on the RasPi. Given the large number of downloads and relative few problem reports, it would seem that the image is working for most.
All that said, if you have it working fine on the B+, there's really nothing to be gained operationally by moving to a model 2B.

Thanks for the answer. BUT, I am confused. If the Commander software and B+ with WIFI works flawlessly, and I have 2 RPI2's using either the 10A, 10C and 11, it does not work with the 7811 and 5730 WIFI, it leads me to believe that the software is not working the same as the B+. With 11 and RPI2, I try to see the WIFI, and it doesn't show up in the IFCONFIG. I am doing everything I can think of. It just doesn't make sense. If the WIFI's are being seen by the B+ and not the RPI2's, it just seems logical that there is some kind of difference somewhere in the software. During boot up the software is looking for the WIFI, and not seeing it. WEIRD. So I reverted back to the B+ for my mobile unit, and using one of the RPI2's connected to Ethernet cable in the shack. Believe me Bob, I and not saying that you have done something wrong, I am just using a logical approach to this situation. I have wrote fresh images, and trying all flavors of the software to no avail, but you state you have got it to work with the same WIFI dongles I have. This is where it makes no sense. I do thank you for the help.

Have you tried a different (and at least 2A) power supply and cable on the 2B? A weak power supply can cause the Wifi dongles (which can put a significant load on the USB port) to disappear. Put a multimeter on the test points and ensure that the board's operating voltage is no less than 4.75v. Also, you might try flashing a basic Raspian image from www.raspberrypi.org and see if the dongles work with that. Regards
